Our PetitionSummary of AimSave Our Post Offices Full Text of PetitionPost Offices in North Yorkshire are under threat. The Government plans to close 2500 branches, many of which will be in North Yorkshire. The Liberal Democrats are calling for:- 1. £2 billion to be invested in Post Office branches, money which will be raised by partial sale of Royal Mail at the same time as establishing an element of employee ownership 2. opening of new branches where there is a need 3. retaining Post Office Card Accounts for benefit payments 4. freeing the Post Office from Royal Mail restrictions to let it develop new business 5. a new legal requirement on the government to maintain the local Post Office network.
