Councillor Svetlana Rodgers

Scarborough and Whitby Liberal Democrats are proud to congratulate Councillor Svetlana Rodgers who has been chosen as one of the 12/15 members on the Government's task force looking into equalities issues . This group is made up of women councillors from all over Britain and from a diversity of ethnic backgrounds and their task is to raise the profile of women from all walks of life.

Florence Davies of the Government Equalities office said in a letter to Svetlana, "it is people like you with young children that we need on the task force, as an example to other women that those with caring responsibilities can play a role in political and public life"

Group Leader Councillor Brian O'Flynn said "we feel sure that Councillor Rodgers is well qualified to speak for women in general and residents of Scarborough in particular. We wish her well".
