Shadow Minister Supports Campaign for Manham Hill Green

11.11.15am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 10th Jul 2006

Andrew Stunell MP, Lib Dem Shadow Minister for Local Government and Communities visited Eastfield on Friday.

The Shadow Minister was introduced to local residents by PPC Tania Exley-Moore, Eastfield Councillor Brian O'Flynn and Eastfield Focus Editor Geoff Evans. He was greeted by some 40 members of the local community including many children and elderly residents, all of whom were eager to engage his support in their fight to hang onto the green at Manham Hill.

Eastfield is the largest Council Estate in North Yorkshire and this stretch of grass is one of the few public open spaces available to children and dog walkers. It is in constant use by local people and is kept clean and tidy. Mr Stunell called it a "real credit to local people" and said that it was imperative that the local Liberal Democrats fought the Borough Council in their bid to sell the land.
