Congratulations Ming

1.30.20pm GMT Mon 6th Mar 2006

Scarborough and Whitby Liberal Democrats would like to congratulate Ming Campbell on his election as Leader of the Liberal Democrats. His experience both in and out of politics will be an asset to the party. He is held in high regard in Westminster and his wisdom over the Iraq war has earned him great respect outside the party.

Ming announced at this weekend's Spring Conference in Harrogate that he intended to modernise the party and to present a more professional party to the electorate. Local members will welcome this as we push forward towards local elections and the next general election where we hope to build on our success in 2005.
