Tania Exley-Moore
Local Liberal Democrats are celebrating a massive swing in last night's General Election result. In what transpired to be an inconsistent night for the Lib Dems with gains and losses scattered across the country, the local team raised a glass for candidate Tania Exley-Moore's 6.5% swing.
Tania, polling 11,093, a massive 3700 more than the 2005 election said "I am absolutely thrilled that we have made another huge gain in Scarborough and Whitby. At the last election I doubled our share of the vote and now I have increased it by another third. Where yesterday there was a 10,500 gap between Labour and the Lib Dems in this constituency now there is less than 2000. This clearly stands us in good stead for next year's Borough Elections and no-one will deny that the next General Election will be a three horse race here".
