Liberal Democrat councillors at North Yorkshire County Council are furious about the way in which the Tory bosses are using taxpayers' money in their campaign for a unitary county council.
The latest example of this waste is in last month's edition of the County Council's newspaper. A full page has been devoted to arguing for a new unitary council covering the whole county, and the abolition of the district councils.
However, this edition of the "NY Times" makes no mention of the case for closer partnerships between the county and districts, which has the support of many local residents.
Knaresborough Councillor Bill Hoult, who leads the Lib Dem Group at County Hall, said: "This is a scandalous waste of North Yorkshire taxpayers' money."
"The NY Times is supposed to be for informing residents about County Council services, not arguing political points."
Lib Dem Councillors are currently considering whether to report the matter to the District Auditor.
