"My heart really goes out to the people who will lose their jobs: it's an awful personal and financial blow. It's not as though there are vacant jobs in Whitby for them to simply walk into.'

'When a company making a good quality yoghurt can't get a decent price for its produce, something is wrong. The supermarkets have too big an influence on driving down the prices farmers and suppliers get for their produce, and here is the result: fifty jobs gone in Whitby.'

'Fairtrade isn't just about ethically sourced coffee and chocolate from abroad, I believe fair trade should start at home with farmers and suppliers getting decent prices for the food they work so hard to produce.'
